The good news? It was revealed a few months back that Reba McEntire would be coming back to the small screen with a brand new ABC drama.
Developed by Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, the show is “described as a Southern Gothic soap opera that is set in motion after a suspected act of terrorism happens at a Fourth of July parade in the small town of Oxblood, KY.”
Reba will play Ruby Adair, a small town sheriff who teams up with FBI agent to help solve crimes. A little while back, the show got the go-ahead to film the pilot and some of the cast has been officially announced.
Haven actress Emily Rose has been cast to play Vonda Jean, the town’s coroner, who is also a former beauty pageant runner-up.
According to TVLine, McEntire and Rose will be joined by Jack Coleman (Heroes), Amanda Detmer (Necessary Roughness), Ryan McPartlin (Chuck), Ben Esler (Hell on Wheels), Natalie Hall (Star-Crossed, All My Children) and Saidah Ekulona (Impastor).
In an interview with Taste of Country Nights, Reba said they’ll most likely film the pilot in March. Then they “wait for the upfronts to see if we get picked up“, she says. “Hopefully we’ll be shooting in the fall or January of next year. Before we start doing preliminary planning we need to get the go-ahead.”
