Billy Ray Cyrus’ Wife, Tish Cyrus, Files for Divorce

Miley Cyrus’ parents, Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Tish are ending their marriage after nearly three decades. Tish Cyrus filed for divorce earlier in April according to a report from  TMZ, who obtained the court documents.

The paperwork listed “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for the breakup. Tish also said that the couple hadn’t lived together in over two years, and requested courts to equally distribute all of their marital assets.

It was back in 1993 when the pair tied the knot. They have 5 children together. Most notably is the superstar Miley Cyrus and the pop singer-songwriter Noah Cyrus.

Dolly Parton is actually Miley Cyrus’ godmother.

Did you know that since the couple was married, they have filed for divorce twice before this time? The first was in 2010 and Tish filed again in 2013, with short-lived splits each time.

“We both woke up and realized we love each other and decided we want to stay together. We both went into couples therapy something we haven’t done in 22 years of being together, and it’s brought us closer together and really opened up our communication in amazing ways,” he explained at the time. “Tish also said marriage can be really hard, especially after 22 years of being in entertainment. We’ve had rough times but we both realized we didn’t want to be another statistic and wanted to make it work.”
