Who Was Blake Shelton’s First Wife?

You might not know this about country singer Blake Shelton, but he was once married to a woman named Kaynette Williams. They were high school sweethearts and got hitched in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on November 17th, 2003 (making her officially his first wife).

They then divorced in 2006 and in the divorce proceedings, Kaynette Williams accused Blake of being “guilty of inappropriate marital conduct”. This was likely from the alleged infidelity with fellow country star Miranda Lambert.

It was a September 2005 duet during the CMT 100 Greatest Duets special where the incident happened. Blake said “I’ve never had that kind of experience with anybody,” he said at the time. “I was a married guy, you know? Looking back on that, I was falling in love with her, right there on stage.”

Here’s the moment it happened. I’m not sure if it’ll work on our site but you can click to watch it on YouTube. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube here.

The breakup was part of the inspiration for the “Pure BS” album he released in 2007.

“I was making this record completely right through the divorce,” Shelton admitted. “I went through days where I knew I wanted to get a divorce, and then the next day I’d wake up and wouldn’t want to get a divorce. And I’d wonder, ‘What the hell am I doing? Why am I doing this?’ I was dumping all those emotions I was going through and all that pain into this album.”

Who Was Blake Shelton’s Second Wife?

After his divorce from first wife Kaynette Williams, Blake Shelton married fellow country star Miranda Lambert in May of 2011. The two had actually been dating on and off for several years before they tied the knot.

They met in 2005 while Shelton was still technically married to his first wife (though they were going through a divorce at the time). Lambert has said that she didn’t start dating Shelton until after his divorce was final.

The couple’s relationship was often making headlines, as they were both such big stars in the country music world. They were also known for being quite open about their affection for one another, frequently gushing about each other in interviews and social media posts.

Sadly, Shelton and Lambert’s marriage came to an end in July of 2015. They released a joint statement announcing their divorce, saying that they had “mutually decided” to split up. It was a sad end for one of country music’s most famous couples.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s Marriage

In November of 2015, just a few months after his divorce from Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton began dating fellow The Voice judge Gwen Stefani.

It was a bit of a surprise to see Shelton move on so quickly, but he and Stefani seemed very happy together. They frequently gushed about each other in interviews and social media posts, and they even collaborated on a duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart”.

In October of 2017, Stefani announced that she and Shelton were engaged. They tied the knot in a small ceremony at her parents’ house in Los Angeles on October 14th, 2020.
