Brian Kelley Challenges Big Tech Over Sharing Restrictions on Patriotic Song

Country music star Brian Kelley recently released his single “Make America Great Again” following a performance at the 2024 Republican National Convention. The song’s release has been met with issues related to sharing and visibility on major social media and streaming platforms, prompting Kelley to voice concerns about Big Tech censorship.

Key Issues with Sharing:

  • Apple Music: Fans reported difficulties sharing the song on Apple Music due to a missing “share” button, which was later corrected. Kelley noted that this type of issue had not occurred with his previous songs.
  • Amazon Alexa: When asked to play Brian Kelley’s music, the voice service mistakenly played Brian McKnight instead. Kelley found this anomaly “interesting” and wondered about the underlying reasons.
  • Instagram: Supportive comments for the song were reportedly hidden, an unusual occurrence according to Kelley.
  • Spotify: The single did not appear on playlists for new releases, though Kelley acknowledged that Spotify generally supports his music.

With regard to Spotify, Kelley said his song did not appear on playlists dedicated to new releases of the week.

“They’re not going to advertise it,” Kelley said of Spotify. “They’re not going to put it out front.”

However, Kelley granted that Spotify has been “good” to him and promoted new music, including “Acres,” “Kiss My Boots” and “Dirt Road Date Night,” which were all playlisted.

A source close to Spotify told Fox News Digital that the song “isn’t censored” and, in order to be, it would have broken rules and been removed entirely from the platform.

“Even though it’s not on a playlist and a playlist that the artist would have liked, that doesn’t mean that it’s censored,” the source said. “Anybody can find the song at any point.”

Kelley’s Perspective:

Kelley expressed his gratitude to former President Trump for sharing the song on Truth Social and Instagram. He believes that the inconsistencies in sharing and visibility of the song reflect broader issues of censorship by Big Tech.

Kelley emphasized the importance of continuing to voice opinions and stand by one’s beliefs, despite potential obstacles. He thanked fellow country artists like Jason Aldean and John Rich for paving the way for more politically expressive music.

Future Plans:

Despite the challenges, Kelley remains optimistic and is actively writing and recording new songs, with more releases planned for the fall. He is committed to maintaining his pro-American stance and ensuring his message reaches his audience, regardless of platform limitations.
