Carrie Underwood’s Stunning Drum Solo Lights Up the ‘New Sunday Night Football’ Opening

Carrie Underwood has recently embraced her inner hard rocker, showcasing an edgier stage presence and even joining her idols, Guns N’ Roses, on tour. Underwood’s rock ‘n’ roll dream came to life in this season’s Sunday Night Football (SNF) opening clip, which premiered on Sept. 10, 2023 before the Dallas Cowboys’ 40-0 victory over the New York Giants.

NBC’s much-anticipated “surprise new element” cleverly incorporates Underwood’s rockstar persona as she wows the audience with an electrifying drum showcasing her larger-than-life way of life.

Moreover, Underwood’s stunning black bodysuit serves as evidence of her recent aesthetic transformation.

According to NBC, the revamped opener showcases captivating performance footage from The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, where Underwood’s Reflection Las Vegas residency takes place. Notably, the spectacle is enhanced by captivating “augmented reality highlights showcased across a halo scoreboard.”

We’re thrilled to work with Carrie to capture a new vision for this season’s show open,” According to Tripp Dixon, the creative director for the SNF show open, “It sets the tone for the broadcast and pays tribute to the teams, star players and fans in a fun and dynamic way.

This marks Underwood’s 11th season as the unmistakable voice of SNF, bringing unparalleled energy and charisma to the broadcast. Set to the medley of Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You,” “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” was sung for SNF’s debut season in 2006 by Pink. From 2007 to 2012, the renowned country star Faith Hill lent her captivating voice to both the song and the broadcast. Since then, Underwood has performed the song, except for a three-year period, where she sang her own versions of “Oh, Sunday Night” in 2016 and 2017, and “Game On” in 2018.
