Country music star arrested in Nashville. Here’s what we know

Country music star Sam Hunt was recently arrested in Nashville for speeding and violating an interlock device requirement, but according to PEOPLE Magazine, he will not face charges.

The 40-year-old singer was taken into custody on January 20 after police alleged he failed to comply with the interlock device, which prevents a vehicle from starting unless the driver passes a breathalyzer test. PEOPLE reported that Hunt was released shortly after posting a $1,500 bond. A representative for the artist confirmed that his lawyer successfully resolved the issue in court, ensuring that no charges would be filed.

This isn’t Hunt’s first run-in with the law. In 2019, he was arrested in Nashville for driving under the influence and possessing an open container after police responded to reports of a vehicle driving the wrong way on the highway. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in 2021, resulting in a one-year license suspension and the requirement to install the interlock device.

Beyond legal matters, Hunt has also made headlines for more personal reasons. In November, he and his wife, Hannah, shared the exciting news that they are expecting their third child.

A native of Cedartown, Georgia, Hunt launched his music career in 2008 and has since become a well-known name in country music. In addition to his own success as a performer, he has penned songs for major artists, including Reba McEntire and Kenny Chesney.
