Dolly Parton Donates $1 Million for Coronavirus Research at Vanderbilt


Dolly Parton is just one of those people that everyone loves… and for good reason, right?

What’s not to like about her? She’s been an incredible role model, she’s given us countless hits for decades and she does stuff like this!

Dolly made the announcement on her Instagram on Wednesday April 2, 2020.

“My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure.

I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.”

Dolly also shared a post on April 1, 2020 urging those who were able to donate as well. She shared an Instagram video giving thanks to “the first responders, servicemen and servicewomen, and healthcare professionals all around the world.”

Earlier this week, Dolly announced her new virtual storytime series, “Goodnight With Dolly,” in an effort to bring hope and comfort to parents and children coping with shelter-in-place mandates amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In the series, which kicks off April 2nd at 7 p.m. EST, Dolly will read classic children’s books including The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper, Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney, and her own Coat of Many Colors.
