All good things have to come to an end, as we’ve learned over the years. He will be missed…
The Duck Dynasty team and someone who has been employed by Duck Commander for a 1/4 century is heading out…
John Godwin, a decoy technician and duck call builder, along with a terrific member of the team and highly entertaining on both the show and podcast, is retiring.
Godwin announced his retirement on a Jan. 9 episode of the group’s podcast Duck Call Room.
“25 years, that’s enough,” Godwin said on the episode, adding that he was “ready to go fishing.”
Over the last week since his last day he’s making the most of it. He said he’s fished “four days out of the six” and he’s made some great catches during the time out in the water.

Godwin is definitely not going to just be out fishing all the time though. His wife Paula jokes that he’s “a little lippy” when she tells him what needs to be done around the house. She’s got a long list of errands and chores for him now that he has more free time.
Lisa Robertson shared a celebratory post about Godwin’s retirement with this post.
“Get ready for some honey-do’s! You know Paula Godwin can’t let you just sit around eating Bon-bons!” Lisa jokes.
