The Realities of Raising a Teen Driver: Luke Bryan Shares

Country music superstar Luke Bryan is in the throes of parenting a budding driver, his son Bo. In a fresh interview with Audacy’s Katie & Company, Bryan unveiled the ongoing discussions he and his wife Caroline are having with their son about his first car. The negotiations have not been smooth sailing, as Bo’s dream vehicle doesn’t align with what his parents have in mind.

Bryan said, “We’ve got him up and running, and now we’re just trying to decide on the first vehicle that will be part of his life.” He added, “He made an attempt to choose it. We quickly understood, ‘No, you won’t be getting that.'”

Bo has set his sights on a sizeable truck, but his parents have different plans. Bryan continued, “Well, he wants a big truck, and we’re going to get him something, but it won’t be what he desires. Let’s leave it at that.”

Earlier this year, Bryan candidly shared his experience of teaching Bo to drive, describing it as a “nightmare”. He confessed that his son was far from being a proficient driver. However, he seems more hopeful now. He said, “He’s making progress,” commenting that he was just taken aback by his son’s initial lack of driving skills because he assumed Bo’s experience driving on the farm would translate to the road. It didn’t.

Bryan’s wife Caroline is also pitching in to teach Bo to drive. She often posts pictures and videos of Bo’s driving adventures, including a recent photo of him driving himself to a homecoming dance, with her keeping a watchful eye from the passenger seat.
